GGN FUNDING PROJECT
Dear GGN Members,
We would like to inform you that the GGN FUNDING PROJECT is progressing within a structured and carefully supervised framework designed to create new financial and operational opportunities for the Network, without any cost to GGN or its members.
The initiative is being developed by the under the authority of the GGN Bureau, as mandated by the GGN Executive Board, and aims to strengthen the long-term sustainability of the Network while promoting the broader recognition of Geoparks as territories of sustainable development.
All stages of the process are being reviewed and validated by an internationally recognised law firm with extensive experience in fundraising procedures of this nature, ensuring strict compliance with applicable norms, safeguards, and commitments made with UNESCO. Given the strategic importance of this work, a level of confidentiality and centralised coordination is essential at this stage. Procedures relating to partner engagement, due diligence, legal structuring, and overall project governance are therefore being conducted solely at the Executive Board level.
When the moment comes to formalise agreements, no action will be taken without the full knowledge and consent of the territories concerned. Participation will always remain voluntary and entirely free of financial obligations for both GGN and its members. For now, it is important that we obtain accurate and complete information from all territories so that future negotiations can be carried out in good faith and with a sound understanding of local contexts, enabling us to maximise the benefits for the whole Network.
To move forward, we urgently need your collaboration.
In the link https://forms.gle/YPCCcjwYXZfWsie58 is a short survey that must be completed no later than 16th December. It will take no more than 10 minutes, but the information you provide is essential for building a funding architecture that reflects the real needs, priorities, and opportunities across our entire network.
Your timely response will directly contribute to:
- Strengthening the capacity of the GGN to support all members;
- Improving global visibility, communication, and strategic positioning;
- Creating new funding mechanisms for training, development, and international cooperation;
- Ensuring that every geopark, regardless of its region or resources, can benefit from a more resilient, equitable, and future-ready network.
In this context, we kindly ask each geopark to treat this request as a mandatory and time-sensitive action.
Your cooperation is not only expected but deeply appreciated. Together, we are laying the foundation for a stronger GGN that can better serve its members and the communities we represent.
Thank you in advance for your prompt collaboration and for your continued commitment to our shared mission.
We thank you sincerely for your cooperation, trust, and discretion as we continue advancing this important initiative.
Warm regards,
Prof. Artur Sa
GGN President
